Glendon Swarthout

Glendon Swarthout (1918–1992) was an American novelist, screenwriter, and professor. The Homesman is set in Nebraska in the 1850s and follows a frontier woman who agrees to transport four women who have been driven mad by the hardships of pioneer life. It was adapted into a film directed by Tommy Lee Jones.
