Jonathan Swift

Jonathan Swift (1667–1745) was an Anglo-Irish satirist, poet, and political pamphleteer. Gulliver's Travels (1726) is his masterpiece—a biting satire of human nature and the failings of British society, told through the adventures of ship's surgeon Lemuel Gulliver in fantastical lands.
